Judging by the fact these were included in a press release and contain numerous references, I'm going to assume these are the results of the screenshots discussed previously. I'm glad we finally got them, and you'll be glad as well once you take a gander at these sweet things.
I have no idea what's going on in this screenshot, but I love it. This seems to be the last Action level of World 8, and shows a good deal of difficulty. I imagine the starite will be let loose into the heavens if you break the rope, which is perhaps triggered if you hit that tripwire up top. What EXACTLY is Maxwell doing, though? Looks like he strapped a bomb onto himself and is parachuting to safety? To danger?
Is that God playing skeelball with Maxwell? Hmm...feels like some sort of reference. Anyone know what's up with this?
Flight of the Valkyries right here! Pretty sweet looking picture.
And now for something entirely different, here's Maxwell in a tophat while on a giraffe
I really feel this is some reference I'm missing. It seems the griffon is blindfolded...and Maxwell is a cowboy...so what is going on here?!
Thankfully, I don't need any help figuring THIS one out. Maxwell makes a surprisingly convincing Mario when he dons the mustache and overalls.
Looks like a politician riding a yeti, and they both have guns, and they're...uh...harassing a space-dude?
Aliens/Mutants vs. a whole bunch of goats? What the hell?! These screenshots are like looking into the psyche of a madman!
AND THIS PROVES IT!
I'm glad 5TH Cell embraced the steakbaby meme and decided to show it off in all its glory.
And again I'm just plain confused. I won't even bother figuring out why that dino is wearing a hat, what an owl has to do with any of it, and where Maxwell got that monocle.
Finally, of interest is this slightly new top screen found in one of the further screenshots found here (they all just show the typing of the words you've seen in these shots, so it's nothing interesting)
Here we see the top of the title screen, only it's gold instead of blue. There doesn't seem to be a rhyme or reason as to why this is. My gut tells me, though, that this is part of a reward for entirely 100% completing the game, much in the same way games change up their title screen background upon fully beating it. Perhaps it's something different, but at the very least it's interesting to consider.
The "space dude" is what you get when you type in 'scribblenaut' ;)
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure the alien/mutant is a chupacabra. The Spanish goatsucker monster.
ReplyDeleteIt feels like a safe guess ha.
the god and skeeball game is a reference to the movie Dogma, where its revealed god loves skeeball so much he becomes mortal to play a game now and then
ReplyDeletei guess im slow but i did not notice any references, all i got was mario and that took a few seconds
ReplyDeletebut nice catch that it was a skeeball booth because when i first saw it i thought it was a piano with the top open
all in all nice pics
The Griffon is wearing a sombrero, I think.
